This is my story...
My name is Francisco Xavier de la Vera. If you look at my life today, you might think I was blessed from the cradle or had an easy path. Far from it. I grew up fighting severe asthma attacks, deep insecurities forged by paternal abandonment, and the weight of childhood trauma. The I suffered at age five left a deep wound, making me feel vulnerable, without control over my life, and deep down, unworthy of protection or love.
My body absorbed that trauma. From my childhood, I was mercilessly shamed for my physique, even by my own family. By puberty, the psychological damage was so profound that the simple act of existing felt like a burden. The bullying about my body and personality reached its peak.
My first encounter with what I now call the Biology of Will occurred in middle school. My friends effortlessly performed tricks on the parallel bars. I couldn't even hold my own weight. We had recently moved, tearing me away from my grandmother (my only emotional support), and I needed an anchor. Frustrated, I started going every day, trying to hang from those bars until exhaustion. I did this for weeks that turned into months. Until one day... I pulled myself up.
I managed to go up and down. That day, for the first time, I felt the intoxicating physiological rush that comes from physical dominance. That surge of adrenaline translated into mental armor. I started bodybuilding, training to failure four hours a day. That was my first line of defense to keep at bay the and that had already taken root in my mind. But I didn't know the real battle was just beginning.
When I moved to the US to finish college and started living alone, my fragile shattered. I stopped training. I fell headfirst into the trap of the . Sometimes I would eat at four different fast-food restaurants in a row just for lunch.
I began what I call a "silent suicide": letting myself decay, sinking into a black hole of terrible nutrition, toxic relationships, and a total lack of boundaries. I thought I was happy; my friends always saw me smiling and joking, but it was a facade. Inside, I was completely broken.
I reached nearly 300 pounds. I developed uncontrolled, , my testosterone plummeted, I herniated a disc from being overweight, and I suffered from fatty liver and failing kidneys. I had moments of lucidity where I tried crash diets, medication, and even liposuction at 19. Nothing worked because I never faced the root emotional traumas. The house of cards always collapsed.
The final collapse came when, after a failed marriage, unemployed, drowning in debt, and living back in the US, I decided I couldn't take it anymore. If I couldn't control my life, I was going to control the only thing left: my death.
A friend I confided in called 911. The police found me driving toward the beach and took me to a psychiatric clinic. They took everything from me, put me in a hospital gown, and left me under observation. It was deeply humiliating. But it was the awakening I needed.
Sitting in that clinic, I realized something fundamental: if I had the strength to keep fighting death, I had the strength to take control of my life. And if I had the power to take control, I had to accept absolute responsibility. I swore that, no matter what happened, I would never give up.
I started over. I got a new job in another state and adopted a I went to a psychiatrist, a psychologist, an EMDR therapist, and a general practitioner. I went back to the gym. There were countless days when I walked on the treadmill and ended up crying out of desperation, sometimes even hitting myself because I hated what I had allowed myself to become. But discipline prevailed.
I learned to set emotional boundaries. I learned the power of the word "NO". I ruthlessly cut toxic people out of my life. I immersed myself in and discovered that consistency and science are non-negotiable.
I decided to get certified as an ISSA Elite Personal Trainer, Nutritionist, and Corrective Exercise Specialist to build the system that saved my life.
Thus was born the Volia Protocol ("Volia" means freedom and willpower). This protocol is not theory; it is the exact system I used to reverse my diseases, lose weight, and recover my biology after failing with everything else. The traditional fitness model is broken; it doesn't scale, lacks clinical precision, and radical empathy. That is why I combined Artificial Intelligence with human contact.
I chose the as our logo because I have burned to the ground and risen from the ashes time and time again. If I could do it, you can too.
"You are NOT alone. You do not need to fight this rigged system alone. Do not underestimate your own power. You can learn to love yourself. Puedes aprender a decir NO. Fuerza de voluntad, resiliencia, disciplina... tú también puedes resurgir como el Phoenix."
Stress drives emotional eating. Protecting your peace and learning to say "NO" is a clinical requirement for metabolic health.
Based on the Mediterranean framework. We eliminate hyper-palatable processed sugars and use structured meals to reset your endocrine system.
Heavy structural lifting and joint hygiene to build the tripod (hips, shoulders, core). We prioritize longevity over ego lifting.
Your Central Nervous System dictates recovery. If you are chronically stressed, you cannot efficiently build muscle or burn fat.
Traditional personal training is not scalable, and having a trainer count reps while texting doesn't save lives. Volia combines the computational speed and precision of AI with the empathy and accountability of human contact ("Human-in-the-Loop").
